Title: My Artistic Composition and its Impact on My Work
Introduction:
In this presentation, I will discuss the composition that I have consistently used in my artwork from my early 20s to the present day. I will explain how this composition has given my work a sense of stability, and how I discovered this method through my study of Vermeer's "Woman Reading a Letter at an Open Window" and other Impressionist paintings.
Artistic Composition:
My artistic composition involves drawing circles around the four corners of the canvas and connecting them with straight lines to create diagonals. Instead of drawing straight lines, I use arcs to create a unique and organic effect. I then place the elements of the scenery on these arcs, or omit the branches. This creates a circular flow throughout the painting, with all points connected to the four corners of the canvas. The four corners of the painting are of great importance in this composition.
Importance of Composition:
I believe this composition gives my artwork a sense of stability and harmony. By using arcs instead of straight lines, I create a more organic and fluid composition that draws the viewer's eye naturally from one point to the next. This helps to create a sense of balance and harmony in the painting, and allows the viewer to engage with the work more deeply.
Discovery of Composition:
I first discovered this method while studying Vermeer's "Woman Reading a Letter at an Open Window" at the Dresden National Art Gallery. By drawing circles around the four corners of the painting and connecting them with lines, I was able to see that the main points of the painting were positioned on the arcs created by these circles. I found that many Impressionist paintings also used this composition, and began to experiment with it in my own work.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, my use of this unique composition has been a consistent feature in my artwork for many years. By using arcs to create a circular flow throughout the painting, I create a sense of stability and harmony that draws the viewer in and encourages them to engage with the work more deeply. I encourage others to explore this method and enjoy looking at various paintings to discover their own artistic composition.
